About us

ESSOThe first motor village in Sweden, ESSO Motorby I Laxå, in the middle of Sweden was officially opened 0n 14th July 1963. With this opening a new era for hotels began to grow up in the Nordic countries. The Oil Company ESSO developed their service stations along the new High ways, which where planed in Sweden at that time, and an idea of motels with the subject “ everything for the driver “developed.

In the middle of the eighties ESSO sold off the hotel business to a freestanding company and the chain of hotels became the name Scandic Hotels. After that, the chain of hotels has been owned by Route 66 and Carestel.

Many of the motorists and bus passengers have done their stop at the plant in Laxå. On the 15th May 2003 the brothers Pär and Stefan Jinnestrand bought this plant, which now is run by RastPunkt Laxå AB

Just in time to the 40 years jubilee the hotel plant was officially opened, now as RastPunkt Laxå.
